A French 18th Century Soft-Paste Sèvres Porcelain Traycirca 1770 (plateau du Roi, 1st size)This is the rarely encountered first or largest size of the plateau du Roi, a shape also used for the tray of the fixed double jam pots for dessert services.
Teawares of this brick pattern, either coloured or gilt, were popular in the late 1760s. A cup and saucer with alternating red and gold bricks is in the Royal Collection (cat. No. 196).
