Literature
Two particular dinner services with this bleu lapis caillouté decoration were sold from Sèvres in 1761 to the Come du Châtelet and to the dealer M. Bonnet and one more in 1763 given by Louis XV to the Duchess of Bedford, still in the family's collection at Woburn Abbey.
Some further groups with this decoration were also made, some perhaps for Louis XV.
Without a date letter, it is not possible to know which service this one comes from. There are many pieces in the British Royal Collection probably from a combination of the two 1761 services.
